Return & Warranty Policy

Micro Depth Technologies Limited

trading as MDT Retail (mdtretail.co.ke) and MDT (mdt.co.ke)

Effective Date: July 5, 2026  |  Last Updated: July 5, 2026

This Return & Warranty Policy ("Policy") applies to all products purchased from Micro Depth Technologies Limited ("MDT," "we," "us," or "our") through mdtretail.co.ke, mdt.co.ke, or any other MDT sales channel. Please read this Policy carefully before completing your purchase, as it sets out when goods may and may not be returned, and the terms of the manufacturer/vendor warranty that applies to your purchase.

1. Final Sale Policy

Except as expressly set out in Section 2 (Specification Mismatch) below, all goods sold by MDT are sold on a final sale basis. Once a sale is completed, goods cannot be returned, exchanged, or refunded on the basis of change of mind, incorrect selection by the customer, or similar reasons. We encourage customers to review product specifications, compatibility, and quantities carefully before completing a purchase.

2. Specification Mismatch — The Only Return Exception

The sole circumstance in which MDT will accept a return outside of a warranty claim is where the device or item delivered or collected does not match the specifications advertised or confirmed at the point of sale (for example, incorrect processor, memory, storage capacity, or model variant from what was ordered and confirmed).

Reporting window: Any specification mismatch must be reported to MDT within 3 days of delivery or collection, whichever applies. Claims raised after this window has passed will not be eligible for return under this section.

Where a verified specification mismatch is confirmed, MDT will, at its discretion, replace the item with the correct specification, or provide a refund for the affected item. The item must be returned in the condition described in Section 5 below.

3. Manufacturer / Vendor Warranty

Products sold by MDT are covered by the original manufacturer's or vendor's warranty ("Vendor Warranty") for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase, unless a different warranty period is expressly stated for a specific product at the point of sale. The Vendor Warranty covers functional defects — that is, failures of the device to operate as intended arising from faults in materials or workmanship under normal use.

MDT is a reseller and facilitates warranty claims on your behalf with the relevant manufacturer or vendor. Warranty repair or replacement timelines, and the final determination of whether a fault is covered, are governed by the applicable manufacturer's or vendor's own warranty terms.

4. What the Warranty Does Not Cover

The Vendor Warranty covers functionality only. The following are expressly excluded from warranty coverage, regardless of when they occur within the warranty period:

  • Damage caused by dust or dust ingress.
  • Damage caused by water, liquid spills, or moisture.
  • Damage caused by fire, heat, or burning.
  • Physical damage, including but not limited to cracks, drops, impact damage, or bent or broken components.
  • Damage resulting from misuse, negligence, unauthorised modification, or unauthorised repair by any party other than MDT or the manufacturer's authorised service centre.
  • Normal wear and tear, including but not limited to battery capacity degradation, cosmetic wear, and consumable parts.
  • Damage caused by power surges, incompatible accessories, or improper installation not carried out by MDT.
  • Software issues not attributable to a hardware defect, including viruses, malware, or user-installed software conflicts.

Where an inspection determines that a fault falls within any of the exclusions above, the claim will not be covered under the Vendor Warranty, and any inspection, courier, or repair costs already incurred may be charged to the customer.

5. How to Make a Claim

To raise a specification mismatch return or a warranty claim, please contact MDT with the following:

  • Proof of purchase (receipt, invoice, or order confirmation).
  • A description of the issue, and where applicable, photos or videos showing the fault or mismatch.
  • The product in its original packaging where possible, along with all accessories originally supplied.

MDT will inspect the item to verify the claim before a specification-mismatch return, replacement, or warranty repair is approved. MDT reserves the right to decline a claim where the item shows evidence of an excluded cause of damage as set out in Section 4.

6. Conditions Applicable to All Claims

  • The claim must be accompanied by valid proof of purchase from MDT.
  • The item's serial number or IMEI (where applicable) must match MDT's sales record.
  • The item must not show signs of unauthorised opening, tampering, or repair.
  • Any warranty seals or stickers must be intact, where applicable.

7. Your Statutory Rights

Nothing in this Policy is intended to limit or exclude any right you may have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2012 of Kenya or any other applicable law that cannot lawfully be excluded by agreement. Where any provision of this Policy conflicts with a mandatory statutory right, the statutory right shall prevail to the extent of that conflict.
